Kennel office hours for drop-off & pick-up:  Monday thru Saturday 9am - noon & 5pm - 7pm, Sunday 5pm - 7pm only

Tours are by appointment.  Sometimes we are too involved in taking care of the pets to stop what we are doing to do a tour.

Pets come first here. Plus this way it gives us more time to answer questions than to hurry thru a tour so we can get back to the dogs

By now you have probably read the FAQ page, and have a pretty good idea about what goes on.  Now for your part.

We know it's very hard to leave your pet, but you must make the entire process "happy" for him.  Get "excited" when you tell him he's going to "the Beach", or to visit Auntie Lesa or to "doggie camp".   Let him know by your attitude you're happy with what is coming up.  This makes SUCH a big difference with the dogs.  They really are in tune with you're emotions, so you have to keep really "upbeat"  so he feels relaxed, even though you may be sad leaving him. Be a good actor.

Make sure you have all the shot records ready for us.    Without current shot records, we will be unable to board your pet.

  • If you are bringing a blanket or something, try to write your pet's name on it with a sharpie marker.  And remember, sometimes accidents happen, so don't bring anything that would cause you grief if we were unable to return it to you.  We also have blankets in case you forget yours.
  •
  • Write your pet's name on toys, remember we limit 2, due to confusion during cleaning times.  PLEASE, nothing so sentimental it would cause a problem if lost!

If you are bringing your pet's food, it needs to be in a plastic container with the pet's name and your last name along with feeding instructions clearly marked with permanent marker.

Feel free to write down any idiosyncrasies, tricks, or phobias your pet may have.  This helps us to understand the pet, and avoid situations which may make the pet uncomfortable.

  • Especially let us know if your dog is afraid of storms and what we need to do to help him through it

So now the drop off day is here.  Again you still need to keep that sunny outlook.  We promise to take very good care of your pet, we love taking care of pets, so please smile and be happy when you drop your dog off. If you feel really nervous, stick a piece of gum or candy in your mouth. Dogs sense our nervousness through our breath. (I learned this from dog handlers at Dog Shows)

Try to keep all negatives out of your conversations, and remember you can call,(724)948-2396, or text messsage: (724)579-2304,  or e-mail us, (sunsetbeachboarding1158@gmail.com ) while you are away. Usually 6:30 pm is the best time to call us, when things are settled down. Or you can text us at (724)579-3204. This number is for text messages only, no voice calls at this number.

  • Oh, and don't be too sad the next time your dog charges happily into the kennel and runs to the door to "see who's there" without giving you a backward glance.  It happens all the time...  Dogs like to do something different, just as we all do.   He's very lucky getting his own personal vacation and not sitting at home alone!
